Kovács László Károlyné was the name of my grandmother, the “-né” syllable shows the ownership, that she was the wife of Kovács László Károly – my grandfather, who I named my previous work after (“László”)
My grandmother died last autumn. For some reason we live in a world (at least in Hungary) where women are known by their husband’s name. Even on the monitor above their sick-bed.
My new piece is called by her “name”. I think it’s “fair” like this.
I like when an abstract piece gets personalized.
By the way she is Erzsébet! And I was born on her name day.
