The Company of Duda Éva (Duda Éva Társulat): Mirror

“Duda Éva’s early art is mainly based on physicality, dynamics and on releasing a great amount of energy. The performance Mirror returns to these aspects…” It could be clearly seen in the performance. For me it was a dynamic and energetic dance theatre performance. When I saw the dancers running on stage I was wondering at what point they will charge the stage up with electricity 😊 (those who have already attended a dance theatre session know what I am talking about). I am glad that I could be part of this festival and that I had the opportunity to watch such excellent and professional performances. (Dóra Dobos)

The performance of The Company of Duda Éva titled MIRROR consisted of 3 parts, which were sharply set apart by the intensity and style of the moves. Besides the pounding sounds and disciplined choreography, beautiful stage-setting and passionate steps were also seen in the hall of Hangvilla. The dance artists showed how we love, how we become attracted to one another and how we affect each other. As suggested by the title, they held up a mirror for us. The central role of the mirror was not only strengthened by the parallel between the audience and the artists but also by the synchrony inside the choreography. The applause at the end of the performance and the popular vote was a natural development. (Sára Szendrő)

The evening saw a wonderful motion theatre production with music, no props, and amazing stage spectecle. The precise, however, at times somewhat loud movement series consisted of well choreographed, tightly executed and clear-cut motion. Performers’ strong presence and full immersement in the production was felt all along. The brilliant choice of music resulted in instant silence in the auditorium and made all spectators follow onstage happenings as one. All in all, it was a well composed and enjoyable production. Many thanks! (Dóra Őri)
