Federico Garcia Lorca’s work expresses the suffocating traditions of small rural communities in a poetic language. Built up desire and passion is suddenly let loose from people who desperately wish to break free. The text translated by Gyula Illyés, is spine tingling in itself. Expressing something like this on stage is only possible through the means of physical theatre. Students of the Physical Theatre and Choreographer Faculty of the University of Theatre and Film Arts Budapest have this many-faceted way of expression, the complex use of the human body and the learning of abstract body language as the core material of their studies. In this show, third year students do their best to faithfully apply what they’ve learned to the performance of Lorca’s work.
